Session Definitions

OPEN PLAY : Open level format - all levels of pickleball welcome, drop in style.  Players of all levels who just want to come in and play with whomever is available. This category typically uses the basket system to determine rotations of play. 


BEGINNER PLAY 

(1.0 - 2.5 According to Pickleball Canada self-rate system 

First time players who want to learn the basics of playing pickleball as well as those who might want to focus on some skills to improve their game. A group of 4 volunteers will be on hand to welcome brand new players on their first day as well as giving tips to beginners who have come to learn and improve their game. 


INTERMEDIATE PLAY 

(3.0- 4.0 according to Pickleball Canada self-rate system)

is for players with a more advanced understanding of the game and preparing for tournaments at a 3.0 -3.5 level or just want to play more recreational level yet challenging games. 


ADVANCED PLAY

 ( 4.5+ according to Pickleball Canada self-rate system)

is for players who have been continually executing advanced skills in pickleball and are preparing for tournaments at a 3.5+ level and beyond. 

This group regularly executes high level and fast paced games utilizing highly trained strategies and is not recommended for recreational players.


LADDER PLAY

is an organized league in which players of all skill levels compete against each other in a competitive, structured and, typically, weekly format. Think of a pickleball “ladder” as a graphical representation of a player’s ranking (by skill and performance) over a period of time (10 weeks, for example).  See LEX Ladder for more details.


DRILL SESSIONS (also known as Practice Sessions)

are for all players of all skill levels to practice the various ball skills, paddle skills, movement skills and court positioning skills. Drilling can be accomplished individually or with a partner or four-some. Most drilling can be done with players of various skill levels. Various types of drills can be found here: Practice Drills 


FAMILY PLAY

is open for all ages of players. Those under 18 years must be accompanied by parent or guardian at all times.
