The Kawartha Lakes Pickleball Association (KLPA) held its first Annual General Meeting at the Lindsay Exhibition Commonwell building with an enthusiastic membership present.

Organized pickleball has been played in the CKL for the past 10+ years, but only last August 2022 was the KLPA established.  Confirming that its membership numbers are growing weekly, now surpassing 400+ residents. The sport of pickleball began in 1965, but during the past 5 years, and fueled by the recent pandemic, pickleball has become the fastest growing sport in North America.  Both CKL Mayor Doug Elmslie and the new LEX General Manager Shanice Sproule spoke to the members in attendance with very promising opportunities and solutions being discussed for the sport of pickleball.  Pickleball players are currently getting ready to transition to several outdoor court facilities in the Kawarthas as the weather turns warmer but will still be utilizing the 10 indoor courts at the LEX throughout the summer.  More details on where you can play and about pickleball can be found at klpa.ca
